Flashback Feature: Jakarta International Stadium, Indonesia

Officially inaugurated on 24 July 2022, Jakarta International Stadium stands as one of the largest and most iconic stadiums constructed in Indonesia. Designed to meet international standards, the stadium boasts world-class facilities — including a cutting-edge retractable roof that opens and closes based on weather and environmental conditions.

Notably, it is set to become the first stadium in Indonesia to achieve the highest level of Green Building certification, thanks to its adoption of environmentally friendly technologies and sustainable construction practices.

One of the most extraordinary engineering milestones of this project was the synchronized lifting of the stadium’s massive 4,000-ton roof — the heaviest ever performed in Indonesia.

The operation required 16 lifting points, all precisely synchronized and monitored in real time to keep movement differentials within a strict 50-millimetre tolerance.

Utracon Group is proud to have played a key role in this complex operation. Our scope of work included conducting a peer review of the Roof Heavy Lifting System, supplying and installing the laser and strain monitoring systems, and providing on-site supervision as Heavy Lifting Supervisors. Our involvement ensured that this technically demanding lift was executed safely and with the highest degree of accuracy.
