The HAKI Seminar is an annual event hosted by HAKI (Himpunan Ahli Konstruksi Indonesia, or the Association of Construction Experts in Indonesia), where major stakeholders, particularly structural consultants and engineers, gather to discuss a variety of topics, including new design approaches and applied technology in the construction field. It was special because the long-awaited event was finally held offline for the first time after more than 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic. The main theme for this year was \"Seismic Resilience in Buildings and Infrastructure Projects\".<\/p>\n

The event had more than 300 offline attendees and 1,000 online participants each day over the course of three consecutive days. International speakers from all around the world attended the distinguished conference, including Charles K. Nmai, president of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and Andrew W. Taylor, chair of the ACI 318 Building Code committee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Utracon took part in the event not only as an exhibitor but also as a speaker in one of the sessions focused to building. General Manager of PT Delta Utracon Synergy (PT. DUS), Indra N. Fathoni, explained the basic principles for constructing a low-rise building with a prestress flat slab in a seismically active area like Indonesia. Indra demonstrated the benefits of using prestress flat slabs in projects such as data centres, multi-storey warehouses, and shopping malls, where the construction schedule can be shortened, and structural costs reduced by up to 20%. Indra emphasized that the fundamental in such a design is to separate the lateral\/seismic bearing system (e.g., Special Moment Frame, Shear) from the gravity bearing system, in this case the Prestress Flat Slab.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Utracon believes that the use of prestress flat slab in high-rise buildings in high seismic zones is safe and could add value to the project not only from the perspective of the designer and the contractor, but also ensure that the end design is friendly and serviceable for the end users. This belief is supported by collaborations and innovations like performance-based seismic design performed by MKA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
